Ouch. I didn't expect something like that from you.
He is an educated guy, and a self-made millionaire on top of that. And being elected as a Tory in one of the poshest constituences in the country is not peanuts either. :-)

I think it's a wonderful thing about Britain, that people are genuinely and sincerely able to identify themselves with the British, if they choose so.
And making this choice (as opposed to bleating about multiculturalism) should be encouraged by all means.

I never concealed my views on the decline of Britain through immigration of blacks and Asians. It's not the blacks and Asians as such that I mind, it is precisely the multiculturalism, which is a euphemism for death of culture. The blacks and the Asians do not give a damn about such niceties as culture, they simply never reached that level of evolution, having been transported straight from the stone age into the consumer society. So where the hell does my nation come from?

I agree with you about the multiculturalism. But nothing about this guy tells me that he is a proponent of it! I'd rather have for my neighbour a black person who is into Beethoven and Sherlock Holmes, than a white thrash.

Why can't he talk about "my nation" if he was born here? And maybe even his parents were, I don't know. Can Michael Howard talk about "my nation", and if yes - what's the difference?

Granted. But do you know many black or Asian persons like that? As I said, I have nothing personal against the guy himself. He may be as nice as they come. It is just that the country has gone to the dogs in a large part due to the fact that his ancestors, and others like them, were foolishly allowed to enter and make it their home. This is something that I find it hard to live with. And it's not even my country.

There's a country, you don't live there, but one day you would like to.
